JERRY COYNE Professor Emeritus in the Department of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Chicago, where he worked on diverse areas of evolutionary genetics. The main focus of his research has been on the original problem raised by Darwin the origin of species and on understanding this process through the genetic patterns it produces. He is also interested speciation, ecological and evolutionary genetics, particularly if they involve Drosophila.
He is the coauthor (with H. Allen Orr) of Speciation, the author of the book and blog, Why Evolution is True, and Faith Versus Fact: Why Science and Religion are Incompatible.
