Brian Rotman

BRIAN ROTMAN is Professor of Comparative Studies at Ohio State University. A mathematician and writer who has lectured for many years about the nature of mathematics as a symbolic activity, his most recent books are Mathematics as Sign: Writing, Imagining, Counting; Signifying Nothing: the Semiotics of Zero; and Ad Infinitum ... The Ghost in Turing's Machine. He published a popular account of his concept of non-Euclidean numbers in the magazine The Sciences. He is currently using robotics and ethology to construct a model of the psyche which would illuminate technology's ongoing re-structuring of human consciousness.
