George C. Williams

GEORGE C. WILLIAMS is Professor Emeritus at SUNY Stony Brook and recognized as a leading authority in the study of evolutionary biology. He worked for many years on the evolutionary biology of fishes and made notable contributions to the literature on the evolution of sex. His 1966 book Adaptation and Natural Selection is considered an important work of evolutioniary thinking. His other books include The Pony Fish's Glow (Science Masters Series), and (with co-author Randolph Nesse) Why We Get Sick: The New Science of Darwinian Medicine.
