THOMAS METZINGER is Professor of Philosophy and director of the Theoretical
Philosophy Group at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz,
Germany. Widely considered to be the foremost European philosopher
of mind, he is the
author of three books, most recently Being No One: the Self-Model
Theory of Subjectivity, and the
editor of a number of collections of essays and papers, including Conscious
Experience; and Neural Correlates of Consciousness.
In
addition to cognition and selfhood, his research interests include
ethics, particularly the conceptual connections between
applied
ethics, the philosophy of mind, and anthropology.)
