McCarthy
JOHN McCARTHY is Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University. A pioneer in artificial intelligence, McCarthy invented LISP, the preeminent AI programming language, and frst proposed general-purpose time sharing of computers. He identifies common-sense rules that determine the consequences of events and codifies these rules, along with other information, as sentences in the symbolic languages of AI databases.
