GARNISS
CURTIS is Professor Emeritus in the Dept. of Geology & Geophysics
at the University of California, Berkeley and Founder of the Berkeley
Geochronology Center. A colleague of Louis Leakey, he determined the
age (1.85 my) of the famous Zinjanthropus fossil which rocked the anthropological
world. His research continues that endeavor: In 1994 with colleague
Carl Swisher he re-dated Homo erectus in Java at 1.8 my instead of the
long-held .8 my. |
